Bollywood's most sanskaari and beloved Babuji, Alok Nath broke bad on the internet as he posted an abusive comment to Kavita Krishnan, Secretary of the All India Progressive Women's Association, on Twitter. The episode started with the latter posting, “Careful before sharing #SelfieWithDaughter with #LameDuckPM. He has a record of stalking daughters.”
The tweet sent Modi followers in a rage, who attacked her with vicious tweets and comments. Joining the mob, Nath tweeted “Jail the Bitch”, only to find himself swarmed by Twitter trolls. Kavita Krishnan also reacted to the comment saying, “Modi bhakts like @aloknath who call women 'b.....h' will do a great job of respecting daughters, sisters.” Following the reaction, he deleted the tweet and posted his photo along with his daughter, captioning it, “#SelfieWithDaughter ye jo teri muskaan hai na bitiya ye mera garv hai. Your happiness is my pride.” But the damage had already been done and what tailed was an unrelenting Twitterati having fun at Nath's expense.
Speaking on his offensive tweet the actor said, “It was spur-of-the moment. I was very upset when the lady called our prime minister a ‘stalker’. She had no business to be so crass and disrespectful to a man who holds the highest office in the land. According to me the idea of fathers posting selfies with daughters was just so fabulous. Why spoil it with negativity?”
“I reacted as a huge fan of Narendra Modi and as the father of a daughter who had just posted a picture at the PM’s request. When I read this lady’s ‘stalker’ comment, I was shocked and disgusted. I reacted emotionally. I shouldn’t have used such strong and harsh words. I immediately regretted my impulsive response and deleted the tweet. But it was too late.”
